Of little innocent kids in Class 1

The timetable in the class one classroom showed that the Class 1 students had French lessons twice in the week.; Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00 am.

After two months of the first term, you could audibly hear the traditional "Bonjour Monsieur" on those two days...at least it gave everyone around a clue of which lesson was currently ongoing.

It was just beautiful seeing them greet their French teacher even outside the classroom period until one incident caught my attention.

It was a little after 5 pm, we had closed for a staff meeting.

A guardian had just driven in to pick up his ward...Monsieur and I had just stepped out of the office...

The little boy saw us and shouted "Bonjour Monsieur " while waving his goodbye.

Eventhough it was close to 6 pm and hearing "Bonjour " made me wonder, I still smiled, I felt it was cute and what mattered was the intention behind it.

Two weeks after, I was in the staff room when I got a visit from one of students...

The message was simple and short " Madam, please Bonjour Monsieur wants to see you"

From that moment, I understood what Bonjour Monsieur meant...."Bonjour Monsieur" was the name carefully given to the French Teacher in Class One because he taught French in the morning.

Bonjour Monsieur wasn't their way of greeting...

To them, it was his name and they were just mentioning it as it was...

I'm yet to ask the French teacher if "Bonjour" was his surname or it is rather "Monsieur"

  1. This is hilarious 😂. It's a similar case to when little kids address their Tutor as "Please Teacher".
